About UnMasked
Vision: To provide services that reduce the threats of hardship
UnMasked was started as a way to serve victims and survivors of domestic violence, whether physical, sexual, emotional, or mental. It quickly shifted from domestic abuse to encompass anyone whose lives had been adversely touched by circumstances where their physical, emotional, or psychological state was affected. Bullying has also become a focus for our youth who are part of our youth group, FIRE.
Today, UnMasked is made up of a Board of Directors, with Crystal Vessels at the helm as the founder and passionate overseer of the organization. The Board members have been pulled from the community which UnMasked serves: Fredericksburg City, Caroline County, King George County, Spotsylvania County, and Stafford County (Planning District 16) as well as concerned contributors.
The mission of UnMasked has remained steadfast but has grown by leaps and bounds since its inception so the need for services and funding continues to grow. Each year UnMasked has been able to assist more individuals and families, however, we still have many more that need our assistance. We have cultivated relationships with other similar-minded local non-profits so we are able to share resources at times, we do intend to help those that are referred to us or direct requests that come in.
The organization is currently 100% volunteer with plans in the future to have 2 full-time staff members and 2 part times staff members.
